2021.09.19 01:30 Hardass0877 First Time Mead Questions
Tomorrow, after I receive some brewing equipment I ordered online, I'll make my first (real) mead, following the Beginner Cyser recipe from the wiki. I think I'll double the amount to make 2 gallons (I'm getting a 3 gal fermentor). I've been doing lots of reading and research for quite some time and I'm super excited about getting started!
So first of all, does everything in the recipe scale linearly? I was thinking I would use around 6g of US-05 yeast total. I'll be rehydrating the yeast with GoFerm.
I've also seen some information out there about staggering nutrition and aeration. Would this brew benefit from that? If so, it seems I would probably do something like this:

2021.09.19 01:30 ThrowRA176590 How to convince my GF I'm not trans
I (18m) want to try crossdressing. My gf (18f) is terrified of losing me because I transition mtf. Context, we are coming up on our 2 year anniversary but we were good friends for a year before dating. I know that I am a man, but some days I am more femme presenting, but about a year and a half ago I got confused one day and thought I might be trans. She was really disheartened when I told her my concerns, but when I reflected on it I realized I just wasn't traditionally masculine. Now she's uncomfortable with me trying crossdressing because she thinks it might escalate and I transition fully to female. I only feel feminine every once in a while though, not all the time. What can I do to make her more comfortable and make her less scared of losing me?
Tldr: I want to try crossdressing, but my gf is scared that I will transition mtf, help.

2021.09.19 01:30 ocular_tentacle Clarion - Media
This has been somewhat hastily put together, but I hope it will suffice: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10bCT6Jq-yU55rebhrSNFp2yHV3Grk1x3/view?usp=sharing
Clarion isn't the most well-known amongst the big Night City elites, but is decently respected in the edgerunner community as somebody who's trying to put together a covert media operation. Born into a corporate suburb during the 4th corporate war, his family lost everything as he was driven out of his home by the skirmishes with Arasaka and Militech. As he was forced to relocate, his family was forced to live in squalor and he became something of a renegade, having many nightly excursions into the more dangerous areas of Night City, trying to piece together the remnants of a war which was difficult for him to understand. Armed with a portable camcorder and a cadre of other edgerunners as contacts, his only goal is to uncover corruption in Night City and to publish it through independent, smaller circles.

2021.09.19 01:30 suspicious_gardener Proud of my efficient solution to this problem!
I had an output shaped like so:
Each row is a collection of weights that sum up to 1. I needed to randomly choose an index for each row, weighted by the numbers in each column. The most immediate method I thought of was to use np.random.choice() on each row:
import numpy as np from datetime import datetime samples, groups = 100000, 10 weights = np.random.uniform(0,1,size=(samples,groups)) weights = weights / weights.sum(1).reshape(-1,1)
However this takes a long time as the samples increases. For 100,000 samples, it takes about 4 seconds on my computer. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to use a trick I learned in my statistics class about choosing a random sample from any arbitrary distribution by taking the CDF, choosing a number from 0-1, and selecting the point that corresponds to that number in the CDF:
s = datetime.now() selection = [np.random.choice(range(groups), p=p) for p in weights] print(datetime.now() - s)
This solution is 10x faster! The only downside is the data in weights needs to be copied, but that's not a problem for my use case :). Just thought I would share a fun solution to this problem.
s = datetime.now() weight_cumsum = weights.cumsum(axis=1) unif = np.random.uniform(0,1,size=samples) selection = [np.searchsorted(weight_cumsum[i,:], unif[i]) for i in range(samples)] print(datetime.now() - s)

2021.09.19 01:30 ima_Midg So living in northeastern PA, and came across this little guy mowing the lawn. Normally I'm pretty good about IDing native snakes, but with this being a morph (albino?) I'm honestly unsure... thinking it's either an earth snake, dekays, or a garter. Some input in appreciated!
